mother’s day

May 15, 2006 at 4:06 pm (mother's day)

A tribute to Mother’s Day.

.

A bouquet of maroon and a single pink rose, sweet. Framed on light silver pink. On second thoughts, silver and gold organza ribboning would be lovely.

.

Silver embellishments decorating the sides. It would be perfect with mirror image silver leaf embellishments, for symmetry, but there wasn’t any available, so I had to make do.

wedding card

May 14, 2006 at 4:33 am (wedding)

. . .

One of my very firsts, a wedding card for Ms. Ng on behalf of 03s79.

A work of Oct. 2005, a memorable 5 hours of creative labour.

.

Little bouquet of paper flowers with gauze ribboning, maroons and silver trimmings as the main highlight. Various shades and textures of pinks and silvers, tiered.

The 3 layers can be viewed more distinctly here, with the main background a very lovely light shade of blooming roses in pink.

Hand inked in pen. The quote by Robert Browning on the top leaf does seem a little untidy, a first attempt at handprinting.

.

The bottom leaf is more refined and uniformed, a huge improvement after getting used to handprinting on this smooth opaque paper texture with marble swirls.

.

Inking calligraphy by hand is tiring, but tremendously worthwhile when done right.

calligraphy themed works

May 12, 2006 at 2:53 am (loves)

. . .

Calligraphy, inked by hand.

.

Maroon, and matching reds. Strong pink background, with hints of blooming roses which is not depicted clearly in this photo.

.

White background, layered texture. With maroon and gold ribboning around the edge and leaf embellishment at the edge.

. . .

Another calligraphy themed work. Computer generated this time, alphabets painstakingly typed and font size adjusted for the following effect. Will do it by hand when I whittle a suitable calligraphy pen out of wood.

Ink black trimmings for textural dimension.

Earth-green marble background, with silver ribboning tinted with golden threads for highlights. Dragonfly embellishment on ribbon for just a little more shine.
